Mostly I did Win 8 installs, but there were a couple of technical matters to be attended to that I worked on, and the seven hour shift passed quickly. Gee, what a surprise: the time goes fast when my brain is occupied. Who could have seen that coming?
I had a pretty nice time at work today, actually. That counts for a lot.

So, let's talk about dark matter again!
Vox Day is against it.
I still don't see it, myself. The notion that 90% of the universe is invisible and only weakly interacts with normal matter is bad enough, but to assert that it's proven? (As the climatologists do with global warming?)
Here is the problem with dark matter: no one has seen any. You'd think that's a feature, not a bug, right? I mean, after all, it's invisible and doesn't really interact with normal matter, right? (Do I have to link the Wikipedia entry on the luminiferous ether again?)
Well, Vox Day explains what's wrong with the whole thing in a very nice fashion, so I don't need to reiterate all my arguments, too.

ObamaCare Fail Express!
Uh, no one told us young people we'd be the ones paying for it, brah. No one, that is, except for almost the entire right wing.
"Obamacare Is The Apotheosis of the Progressive Mindset" because you proles are too stupid to know what's good for you. Why, if we let you pick your own health care, you'd probably try to save money, and then you'd spend your savings on stupid, crazy things like guns and private schooling for your kids. Dangerous things. See?
"If you like your plan, you can keep it" is turning out to be one of the biggest political lies in history. I'm going to have to say it again: WHAT DO YOU THINK WE'VE BEEN TELLING YOU ASSHATS FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS?
*sigh*
And Obamacare is also going to be the single largest tax increase in history, no matter how you figure it.

So today is Halloween, and since I spent the entire day at work I'm pretty tired. When work was over I beat feet to church for choir practice; after sitting in the parking lot for about 25 minutes I realized that it had probably been canceled, and when I got home there was an e-mail message informing me of exactly that.
So I went into the kitchen and defrosted some ground beef, and while that was going on I washed the dishes; then I cooked some
Anyway, I'm going to go lay down once I'm done with dinner and the blog post.
...as an aside, I can remember when people used to spell it "Hallowe'en". It's not that far in the past!

So in about four hours it's going to be November already. I mean--damn it, where did the year go?
