I use the version which was included in my old P3 desktop's purchase. It works fine under Vista, but you have to install Works and a bunch of crap before you can think about installing Word.
...and the damned thing installed Internet Explorer 5.5. How much do you want to bet that's the f-ing vulnerability that left my system wide open to shitware? And there's no way to uninstall it, so it's still there on this system.
I can't get Win 7 fast enough. *sigh*
Anyway, I was almost done with the installation and said, "No, you know what? Fuck this," and downloaded OpenOffice instead. Works has uninstalled and now I'm in the process of installing OO, and we'll see if I ever need Word again.
I'm betting "no".
