#4185: Turkey in April

Yesterday--Thursday--I cooked the $9 turkey Mrs. Fungus bought, and it was delicious.

I didn't brine it or do anything. It was pre-soaked or something such that 8% of its weight was "solution" consisting mostly of turkey broth. All I did was defrost it, slather it with oil, and then I put salt, pepper, garlic powder, and rosemary on it. 30 min on 500, then another hour on 350, and the popper popped.

Whipped up some instant mashed potatos, corn, gravy, cornbread, and a simple salad, and we feasted. The turkey was delicious, tender, juicy, and I ate entirely too much of it; I went to bed with a stomach ache.

Oh well.

Apparently we had a good jobs report this month. It's about time. It still doesn't fix the employment to population ratio, but it's better news than we've seen in a while.

It's 12:30 and I have to be at work at 7 AM tomorrow. I'm going to bed.

  • #7605: I don't even need lettuce any longer

See, the tacos I make at home blow away any tacos I've ever had anywhere else. Lettuce used to be necessary, but now it just gets in the way, so I…
