I've long since gotten to the point of not listening at all to what doctors and the government tell me about eating, because everything they say turns out to be wrong sooner or later.
My health certainly has improved since I stopped the "low fat" horseshit. I've lost weight and have had better health all around since I started using butter instead of margerine, for example, and do other things like sprinkle cheese on my salads. I eat less because my food is more energy dense, and it takes longer for my digestive tract to do its thing with it. As a bonus, my hunger reflex tells me when I've had enough food, so I don't have to make a frickin' willpower save every time I eat.

Apropos of very little, Mrs. Fungus did some shopping yesterday and came home with a box of "Bakin' MIRACLE"--that's exactly how the name appears on the box--and it actually works pretty well, at least on pork chops. Pork chops, salad, Stove Top stuffing--I looked at the meal before me, thanked God for it, and then started crying because of what a blessing it was, and it reminded me of all the other blessings I have in my life.
I have many blessings to count, and remembering them keeps me from bitter despair. Which is itself a blessing, and a miracle.
