#4765: "Not going to last long," he says!

Once it started raining yesterday, pretty much it kept on going, on and off, for the rest of the evening. The power flickered occasionally, just enough to make the UPSes screech...but a wave came through around 12:30 and that one knocked out the power for about an hour and a half.

I gave up and decided I'd lay down. I probably wasn't going to be able to sleep, but I wanted to try since I wanted to attend church and had to get up at 8:30 for it. Mrs. Fungus and I were laying in bed together when the doofus up on the corner decided 1:30 AM was the perfect time to start blasting "Electric Avenue" because, y'know, irony, and it was loud enough that I could hear it inside the house with all the windows shut.

"Should I call the police?" Mrs. Fungus asked. I waited until the song came to an end, figuring that the doofus would turn it off thereafter, but no, another song started...so I looked up the non-emergency number and she made the call.

For crying out loud, goofball, have some common sense. Even if it's Saturday night, it's 1:30 in the morning and chances are some people around you have to work tomorrow morning. Anyway the noise went off before the police car drove by. I don't know how to feel about that.

We were startled by the lights coming back on about 2 AM, and I had to turn on the UPSes again. I prepared myself for bed and hit the hay at 2:30.

Prior to all that, though, Mrs. Fungus and I watched Pacific Rim, which was well worth watching. She pronounced it "cheesy" (the fun kind...I think) but I thought the cheese was a necessary part of the movie's ethos, and it worked perfectly.

The unnerving part was that the female lead's face looks exactly like that of a coworker of mine. Well, my coworker is hispanic and would make two of the skinny Japanese woman in the film, but they have the exact same face, and many of the same facial mannerisms, so close that it's uncanny.

No real surprises in a live-action movie about mechs fighting giant monsters. Entertaining stuff, though.

Today it's incredibly sticky outside, and I wouldn't be awake now if the power hadn't flickered and made the UPSes screech again. I woke up at 8:20 and shut the alarm off, thought about it, switched the alarm back on, thought about it some more, and then realized that I hadn't done any laundry and I thought Mrs. Fungus hadn't either (she had)--long story short, I thought I had no clean underwear. I don't know what happened after I had that thought, but apparently I shut the alarm off again because it certainly didn't go off at 8:30. I vaguely remember shutting it off the second time but can't be sure.

Weather site says it's almost 80 degrees already--it's not even 11 AM yet!--and underneath the current temp happily claims, "Today is forecast to be MUCH COOLER than yesterday", just like that with the emphasis and everything.

With a dewpoint of 73? AC remains on today.

Furthermore, rain is forecast for the entirety of the next week. Whee!

Well, I suppose I should go lay back down. Might as well sleep while I can.
