#476: Suzuki Carry: I want one

I saw these in the Philippines. As near as I can tell, they're pickup trucks built on a Suzuki Samurai frame and they're 4WD and everything.

The information I've found on them says they're not street legal in the US, but I wonder how hard it would be to bring them into compliance? As far as I can tell it should only take bumpers, door beams, and upgrading the emissions system--and quite possibly not even that much. Get one made in the 1980s and it won't even have to have air bags.

This image shows the vehicle's 3-cylinder engine, accessed from under the passenger's seat.

Worst case, I'd have to get a Suzuki Samurai and transfer all the mechanicals from the Carry to the Samurai frame...and it would be very awesome once it was done.

There are places in America one can buy these things. Cool.
