#4882: So now I wonder if I should interview with these other folks.

I got an e-mail today inviting me to a phone interview. It's still call center work, but it sounds like it might mean more money.

*sigh* I don't know.

Well, I don't have to do anything about it right this instant, so I think I'll wait to talk to my wife. And until I'm in better physical shape; after cutting the grass yesterday and then staying up until 9:30 to cook and eat dinner, I feel like something the cat dragged in, ate, and then horked back up on the rug. I think I got about 5 hours of sleep, and that was with half a Xanax helping. Argh etc.

By the time I get home at 3 PM, I'm famished, and I have to remind myself that lunch was four and a half hours earlier. Dinner last night was roast chicken legs and thighs (bought several weeks ago at $0.69 per pound, rewrapped, and frozen against just such an occasion) and they turned out delicious.

Pat them dry, oil 'em up, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a bit of rosemary. Cook at 400° until done (these took about 50 minutes, 'cause they're huge). Along with the chicken I made savory potatoes and carrots. (Ssmall potatos, cubed, enough to cover the bottom of a 9" square pan; toss with 2 TBSP of olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and parsley to taste. Lay peeled carrots on top of potatoes. Cover tightly with foil to retain steam. Bake for an hour on the top rack of the oven at 400. You can slide the chicken in about ten minutes after you put in the potatoes to have 'em all finish at the same time.)

...but I ended up in bed about an hour later than I'd originally intended. Argh etc.

And so there I was at work, dragging myself around all day, trying to stay awake and not appear to be sleeping (because they take that very badly), slapping myself when I started getting googly-eyed...and now I'm sitting here at home, eating "second lunch", and basically I feel fine. *sigh*

Wall, a fiver says it's adrenaline from that job opportunity I just got in the e-mail, and as soon as that wears off I'll be--ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

21,000 gallons of jet fuel burned to go talk about conspirators against clean energy. I could go 420,000 miles in my Jeep on 21,000 gallons of gasoline. To make one flight to one event, Obama used as much jet fuel as I would use gasoline in eighteen years of commuting to my present job.

...and he was doing it to complain about how fossil fuel companies are conspiring against clean energy.

Francis Porretto shows us how illegal immigrants are treated in the glorious workers' paradise of Venezuela.

I think the United States should emulate Venezuela in their treatment of illegal immigrants.

The GOP is done. If your political party requires an oath of fealty, it's past its sell-by date. As Dennninger points out, this is the GOP placing party ahead of everything else, including its principles.

Larry Correia gives us the postmortem on Sad Puppies 3 and the 2015 SF Political Correctness Hugo awards.
I said the Hugos no longer represented all of Fandom, instead they only represents tiny, insular, politically motivated cliques taking turns giving their friends awards. If you wanted to be considered, you needed to belong to, or suck up to those voting cliques. I was called a liar.

I said that most of the voters cared far more about the author’s identity and politics than they did the quality of the work, and in fact, the quality of the work would be completely ignored if the creator had the wrong politics. I was called a liar.

I said that if somebody with the wrong politics got a nomination, they would be actively campaigned against, slandered, and attacked, not for the quality of their work, but because of politics. I was called a liar.
And the record number of "No Award" winners--doubling, in one year, the extant number of such awards, or lack thereof--proves that he was telling the truth, beyond any measure of doubt.

"Breakfast" for me, lately, is a PBJ, eaten while driving to work. It keeps me going until I can get a snack at our first break (which is around 8 AM) and that then holds me until lunchtime around 10 or 10:30.

Could be worse, I suppose.

But all I wanted to do all day was to lay back down...and now I can.
