#5910: The rains of October

Last night, Mrs. Fungus sent me out to get sandwiches (Jersey Mike's, good stuff).

Several waves of rain went through; all day it was either raining or threatening rain. Sometimes October is like that: you get a week or two where it's almost constantly cloudy, cold, and wet. Mynd you, autumn weather can be pretti nasti.

Driving out, lightning all around; coming back, the big wave hit. Even with the wipers on their highest speed, my vision was obscured. Definitely a call to slow down, right? It's 45 through that stretch, but maybe take it down to 35 or even 30, you know.

Traffic stopped. Totally came to a complete stop, just f-ing sitting there. The entire westbound side of the highway, not moving, because people are idiots. "OMG IT'S RAIN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!"

*sigh*

The closest Jersey Mike's is nine miles from here. With the weather, the idiots, and a brief stop at a store for a few sundries, it took seventy minutes to make the round trip.

One would hope the 17 minutes Kubrick cut were not from the light show at the end. Heh.

Are pulps making a comeback? That's my philosophy: tell entertaining stories.

Dang that global warming!

Mrs. Fungus is off today, so we slept in and had leftover Jersey Mike's subs for breakfast when we finally did crowbar ourselves out of bed. And just maybe I can spend a little time playing WoW. That'd be a nice change of pace.

I did not fire up the grill and make burgers. I slept like a stone, and when I got up, we went to the laundromat, and then to Culver's. Oh well. *…
