Projected high: 3. Projected low: -8.
*sigh*
Well, fortunately, there is nowhere I need to go today. So, F it.

Speaking of bitter cold, This is why I don't believe the global warming bullshit.
In 2012, I wrote an American Thinker article on the status of global warming at the time. I used the latest available NASA/GISS data to do that analysis, which was the version NASA had on its website on April 30, 2012 (Land-Ocean Temperature Index [LOTI]).So in 2012, the warming trend was 0.59°C per century. Using the same data series five years later, the warming trend is 0.66°C per century.
At that time, the data from 1880 through 2011 showed a warming trend of 0.59 degrees Celsius per century.
What is that warming trend using the latest data from NASA's website (December 30, 2017), using those same exact years (1880-2011)? The answer is 0.66˚ C.
This sums it up:
Apparently, the Earth is getting warmer faster than it was five and a half years ago, but not because of actual recorded thermometer readings in those last five and a half years. It is getting warmer faster because NASA adjusted the data to show faster warming. They're changing the data--cooking the books--to make it happen. It's not actually happening, so they need to fake it.
Emphasis mine: "NASA changes the temperature 'record,' going back to 1880, every month."
They change the data, they delete the old versions, they do not explain what adjustments they made, nor why, nor how; and based on this they expect us to trust them when they tell us that global warming is real, man-made, and happening now.
"The science is settled," they tell us, but this isn't even in the same zip code as science.

I think Charlie Brown said it best.

I find all those items peculiar. Not surprising, as hypocrisy is one of the main features of leftism.

I've written about this kind of thing before. There's a reason kids who take racy selfies get prosecuted under "child pron" statutes: because adults are very good at manipulating children.
So let's say the ACLU gets their way, and underage kids can snap all the racy pics they want and distribute them. Let's further postulate that A.T. Miggim, pervert extraordinaire, has nude pictures of an underage girl on his phone. When the phone is examined, it's found they originate from the cellphone belonging to the girl, which matches his claim that "Hey, that girl sent me those pictures all by herself!" Even though he groomed the girl and convinced her to take those pictures and send them to him, he's not the "creator" of them. Legally speaking, the girl's First Amendment rights mean that instead of looking at "creating" the CP, he's just on the hook for "possession" of it. Even though actual child sexual abuse occurred.
I don't think this is an example of the law "going nuts". It's an example of the law working exactly the way it was intended to, so that pervs aren't off the hook for convincing children to make pr0n.
But of course the people who want to normalize pedophilia--using, I might add, exactly the same playbook they used for homosexuality--the ACLU considers those people to be "fellow travelers". They're all leftists.

Our day yesterday was pleasant and low-key, just the way we like it. One of the nicest things about having your wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve is that if you're invited to a party you don't want to attend, you've got the perfect excuse: "It's my wedding anniversary, sorry."
So we played WoW and ate shrimp and other finger foods, and relaxed and had fun. Watched The Force Awakens and Batman vs Superman, and I read the manga Mrs. Fungus gave for Christmas.
Today we'll probably have the beef roast we'd intended to eat yesterday but never got around to cooking--we filled up on shrimp etc--and otherwise do nothing, and like it. A pleasant end to the holiday season, and just as well considering it's so friggin' cold outside.
