A "back-to-school peace picnic" turns violent as "One to three gunmen between the ages of 15 to 20 opened fire".

Because gangs; why else?

Pixy Misa talks about a little issue with the new Macbooks:
The T2 chip in the new MacBook Pro crashes randomly.

The T2 chip controls the touchbar. Oh, and also storage encryption. So if it stops working it bricks your laptop. It does automatically reboot after crashes, but it would be kind of nice if it didn't crash in the first place.
That would be nice, wouldn't it? Especially considering that the frigging computer costs five thousand fucking dollars?

Then again, if you can afford to drop five grand on a laptop, you probably don't do any actual work where you have to worry about random crashes. Besides, the true believers have spoken:

I suppose it is possible that you could somehow manage to configure a Windows laptop such that it cost you five thousand dollars, but I bet you'd have to work at it, and its capabilities would far exceed what a typical laptop user needs. Considering that the useful lifetime of a computer in a business environment is perhaps four years, spending five grand on one does not seem like a wise investment.

WTF--I'm still using a laptop from 2008 that cost me $500 then; and it handles everything I need a laptop for. Which isn't to say I don't want a new laptop, but I don't need one--and even then I'd be spending perhaps $350 to $500 to replace it. And for that $500 I'd get capabilities that were largely in line with my desktop computer, with the probable exception of the graphics.

If I wanted to go nuts I could get a laptop that would run WoW as well as my desktop does--but that laptop wouldn't cost more than about $1,800.

So, yeah--Apple sucks, all right.
