#6465: Gonna talk a little politics

Because I don't know how to postpone a post and this stuff demands discussion and I don't want to lose the articles.

Skip this post until tomorrow.

The Tiananmen Square Massacre is the one where you saw that dude standing in front of a tank. It didn't end well for him, and it looks like there were 9,999 other people who had their days canceled by murderous government thugs.

10,000 people dead, one event. That is the true face of socialism.

I was thinking in the shower, this morning, about how the left has managed to make nazism out to be the big bad guy, how the Holocaust was the Worst Thing Ever. It was very bad, I agree--but about six million people died in Nazi concentration camps. The Holodomor by itself killed at least seven million people, and that was just one mass political murder carried out by the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics. The guys that the left insist were the "good" socialist.

(And not to put too fine a point on it, but nazism is socialism, too.)

China, however, takes the record for the biggest number of political murders: something like sixty million people executed solely because their government decided to. They had the wrong opinion, or lived in the wrong place, or the government simply needed someone out of which an example could be made.

Christmas Day is a heck of a time to think about all this, but maybe it's not all that inappropriate to consider how evil has managed to make itself so pedestrian that some members of our society can simply gloss over its death toll, unchallenged.

Lest you doubt me when I call it "evil", read about the guy who came up with kwanzaa. Tell you what, he's a real frickin' winner. And insane.

Yep, "gay pedophilia" just about covers it, I think. So, barely-pubescent boy is parading around in girls' clothing and gay men are throwing dollar bills at him. You try that in a regular club with straight men and a girl the same age, and see how fast the police show up. Why do we give a pass to gays for engaging in obvious sexual predation?

Unions, also, are evil. "Let's just confiscate your entire paycheck right before the holiday! Ha! Scrooge has nothing on we Teamsters!"

"You are part of the union now," was the response to protests. Yep. Welcome to life in the union! Pay no attention to that boot stomping your face; you get used to it after a while, anyway, comrade.

...a double ellipsis to separate the good stuff from all that bad stuff.

Dinner tonight will be turkey. We bought it Sunday night; fearing it would not defrost in time I made a batch of brine and started the brining right away. It's got to brine at least 12 hours; more won't hurt, though.

Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, crescent rolls, Stove Top stuffing--simple and easy, considering that I'm working today. I expect to start the bird cooking around 4:30.

Tomorrow I need to work, as well; it'd be nice if I had a day off this week but it's not in the cards, and anyway it never hurts to make money. I just wish I was getting holiday pay; that's one of the big downsides to being a contractor. But I'm at home, in my jammies, and not fifty miles away in a stupid call center, so that's a big plus.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Probably the last thunderstorm of the year, hard rain. Weather site says "2 to 3 inches of rain"--for the day, I think--and I'm not inclined to doubt…
