I think what they make there, primarily, is some form of sodium laureth sulfate. Anyway the reactor room was filled with a STENCH that was mainly hydrogen sulfide atop a nice clean soapy smell.
(Turns out the place I work out of, they make stuff like sodium stearate, at least judging by the MSDS information for the raw materials.)
Walking through the reactor room on my way to another building, I was trying to hold my breath, then trying to breathe only through my mouth, and nothing was working, so I was trying not to hurl--I do not know how the guys who work in that place stand it. I suppose you get used to it, after a while.
Anyway, I mention this because I'm sitting here eight hours later and I am still getting the occasional whiff of that DAMNED STENCH. I don't know if it's some weird kind of olfactory flashback or if my hair and skin somehow absorbed some of the stink and is releasing it here and there. All I know is, STINKING STENCH IS STINKY. Damn!
