#7122: Well, that's some good news!

The extended shutdown is not in effect.
Clay County Circuit Court Judge Michael McHaney ruled against Pritzker's executive order, granting a restraining order to temporarily block the stay-at-home restrictions set to take effect Friday, according to local reports.

"We are certainly going to act in a swift action to have this ruling overturned," Pritzker said in his daily coronavirus press briefing Monday.

The ruling comes after Republican State Rep. Darren Bailey of Xenia filed a lawsuit in Clay County Circuit Court claiming Pritzker has exceeded his authority and is violating the civil rights of the state’s residents. Pritzker on Thursday extended his stay-at-home order through May 30 as the highly contagious COVID-19 continued to infect thousands in the state.

"Enough is enough!" Bailey said in a statement. "I filed this lawsuit on behalf of myself and my constituents who are ready to go back to work and resume a normal life."
Of course Pritzker wants it overturned as quickly as possible. It's all about RESPECT MAH AUTHORITAH!!! now. If indeed it was ever about anything but.

North Korea may have a new dictator, and she's a woman. The woman that the left went all melty over for the 2016 Olympics because the left never met a murderous dictator they didn't like, and it's especially fantastic when that murderous thug is a she.
Yo Jong wasn't elected. She is the grand daughter of the man who appointed himself supreme leader, who gained and held power by killing between 1.6 and 3.5 million people and plunging a nation into totalitarian tyranny and grueling poverty.

Never mind that her father and older brother maintained the family’s power through persecution and mass murder. Never mind that she has been known to call for the execution of people by anti aircraft gun.
A pretty face doesn't mean there's a pretty heart in there. She's evil. Don't trust her.

She will murder as many of her serfs as she feels the need to in order to maintain her grip on power. The fact that North Korea may soon have a female running the place is not something to admire.

By the way? Margaret Thatcher was the first woman Prime Minister of England, back when sexism was still a real problem, yet you didn't see liberals getting all melty over her.

It would be very nice if the useless shitheads actually had to work for a living.
I deeply believe this is the reason the Zombie Apocalypse genre was so popular. So many people with valuable, sometimes life-saving, skills were tired of barely making ends meet while the most useless fucking people on the planet were making millions shaking their asses on TV.
Yes. This, exactly. And they are quite literally "the most useless fucking people on the planet."

Well, this is interesting.
I wish the film had taken the next step of educating its viewers on how low solar's Energy Returned on Energy Invested is, and why that matters. ERoEI is similar to the dollar return on a stock or a bond investment: how many Joules of energy did we get from this source, and how many Joules of energy did we use to create this source? Divide those two numbers, and you have ERoEI. Crude oil, for example, has an ERoEI of about 6, so when we invest one Joule of energy in drilling for oil, we get six back in the form of crude. Not long ago, I was of the opinion that the ERoEI for solar photovoltaics was between 2 and 3; more recent scholarship has that number closer to 1 ... which, if true, would mean that solar is an energy treadmill on which we can never get ahead.
That would mean that you could cover the entire world with solar cells and never produce more energy than you expended on making the solar cells in the first place.

Which would mean that solar power is literally a waste of energy.

That post utterly eviscerates so-called "renewable" energy. It's worth reading.

This is longer than the previous post but it, too, is a worthwhile read.
The first thing we should look at is lifestyle since that's what has changed most drastically. Republicans and conservatives evaluate this as what it really is, a trade-off; we're getting our "social distancing" which we have to have, although we can't afford it for too long. The democrats are looking at the same situation but they don't register the concept of "can't afford." Anyone who's watched democrats for any length of time knows this. We've seen it for generations. Whee!! New program!! Spend spend spend!! If we run out of money it's the taxpayer’s fault for not coming up with his "fair share."
It was difficult to pick an excerpt; it's all good.

The sushi came out...okay. Mrs. Fungus liked it; I thought it was too salty. Basically, because I couldn't use my usual recipe, it ended up being the worst sushi I ever made. That's not as a bad as it sounds, since it's a relative measure; all the sushi I've made before now was better than Sunday's batch, which was still pretty fair dinkum.

Heck, I've been paid to make sushi: a friend of mine in Cedar Rapids paid me to make sushi with spam and avocado for a massage therapy class pot luck dinner.

I rule.
