#7277: I can breathe fine, so why does it feel like I can't?

Extra-extra annoyed edition:

Absolutely could not sleep last night. I could drop off, briefly, but then would wake up again almost immediately. Eventually I did fall asleep, but I kept waking up, with the result that when I got up around 8 AM I felt half embalmed. PBJ and back to bed, still unable to sleep.

The problem was that I didn't feel like I was getting enough air. Normal breathing, both rate and depth, but it felt like I needed more air than I was getting. The only way to fix that was to take a deep breath. Body wouldn't do that on its own (getting enough air, remember) so the discomfort of the sensation of needing more air (when I didn't) was keeping me awake.

When I was at the doc on Thursday--same as two weeks ago--my lungs, she said, sounded perfectly clear. There is no reason for me to have these symptoms except the same-old-same-old, so I took Xanax, and then I was able to fall asleep just fine, for a few hours.

This is dicks, it's aggravating, and I'm sick of it. Plus side, Xanax helps, so it's got to be anxiety, which means that eventually it should stop.

* * *

And to my surprise, that's all I've got.

My wife wants me to cook ravioli. Guess I will.
