1) In the unlikely event one is bad I don't have to wait even longer to fix my DVD recorder.
2) In the more-likely event that both are perfectly fine I have a spare if/when this happens again.
...and $56 shipped for two drives ain't that bad a price, anyway. Worst case, one goes into the computer.
I would have gone to Best Buy on Sunday, but when I woke up it was sleeting and I--Jeep or no--was not about to make a non-critical trip in that slop. And considering that I expect this week to be an approximation of last week--Tuesday is expended on errands and Thursday evaporates--I don't know when I'm going to get over to Best Buy. I've got to get to Borders by Friday in order to use the $5 coupon I "earned" by buying all kinds of manga there, though, and they're just down the street from Best Buy. We'll see.
Instead of doing anything on Sunday, then, I slept in. Once I saw what the weather was doing, I went back to bed. You know how it is when you wake up on a winter morning and the bed is just that perfect temperature? And how usually you have to get up to go to work, or to take a leak, or you're starving or something? And how, after you take care of the physical needs, you can't get that perfect comfort back?
I got it back.
That almost kind of makes up for some of the myriad of times that I had to go to work when that was going on.
I had to use the bathroom and my stomach was digesting itself; after taking care of those issues I got back into bed and I got it back. Perfect, toasty comfort.
To me, that says that I was meant to be in bed rather than out doing something. But I didn't get any repair work done on anything.
Well, I couldn't very well weld with sleet coming down, could I? For one thing, moisture and high current--no thanks.
...and today's weather--even if I didn't have to go to work tonight!--is projected to be cold and rain, or cold and snow, or some combination. Argh.
Hopefully I'll be driving again tonight. If I could have a night tonight like Friday was, that would be awesome. But I'd say it's probably not the way to bet.
Oh well.
