#761: It's old, it's dangerous, but keep using it.

Congrescritters want the shuttle to keep flying past its retirement date in 2010.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

If I was in charge of this mess I'd stop shuttle flights now, funnel most of the shuttle money into the Constellation booster program and put it on critical priority, and buy Energiya flights from the Russians until the Constellation booster is flight ready.

Since that's not going to happen, I guess we're going to do it the old-fashioned way: keep flying the things until they've all crashed.
