Those wacky Chinese! Accusing the Dalai Lama of "violating religious tradition"! If someone wrote this stuff in a SF novel, the readers would scoff at it: "Oh, that wouldn't happen!"

This story just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

Observing dark energy and dark matter may cause the end of the universe.

That's right. The stuff interacts so weakly that we can't directly observe 90% of the universe, but the fact that we've made a couple of inferences about its existence from observations of how certain cosmic events unfolded is enough to "reset its clock".

...did anyone try to match those observations to the effects of general relativity?

Cosmologists: call me when you've decided to stop believing in the luminous ether, okay?

Simple fix: never buy Maxtor. Seagate says that it doesn't think the ChiComs put the trojan horses on its Maxtor drives.
