#970: Today's anime!

I just had a bit of a marathon:

Pretty Cure Max Heart 34
Emily of New Moon 1
Rental Magic 1
H20-Footprints in the Sand 1
Minami-ke Okawari 3
Kimikiss-Pure Rouge 1
Abenobashi 1
Ichigo Mashimaro OVA 3
Bamboo Blade 17

...and boy are my arms tired! (?) Well, it was only four hours; what am I complaining about? Though my butt aches for some reason...

The story for Emily of New Moon looks like it may be good. I'm just having some trouble getting past the character designs--Emily has more forehead than I do. Her forehead, in some shots, is as big or bigger than the rest of her face!

The background art is superb.

One ep into Rental Magic and it looks okay--I'm hoping it doesn't turn out to suck egregiously like Yume Tsukaitai did, though, because 1 ep into that I felt the same way.

I'm liking H20-Footprints in the Sand so far. Looks like it has some potential. Same for Kimikiss-Pure Rouge.

Magical Arcade Abenobashi--its intriguing, I'll give it that. I've heard good things about it, though, so hopefully it won't suck. It was done by Gainax, though, which doesn't make me feel better about it. We'll see.

It's the first day of spring!

...according to the calendar, anyway. They're predicting snow/rain/"wintry mix" for Friday evening. Yeeaaayyy. The Pat Metheny Group has a song "Spring Ain't Here" which I play under such circumstances. Guess I'd better dust off the CD.

Speaking of fansubs, I found torrents for Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, which is an old favorite, and Da Capo first and second season, so I'm grabbing those.

And I guess that'll do for now. More later.

#971: Grandma got run over by Obama's campaign

Ann Coulter discusses ways in which the Obama campaign dropped the ball on the race issue. I love Ann Coulter.

Vox Day thinks we're headed into a depression. It's hard to argue with him; he makes good points. I just hope he's wrong.

But, WTF, we've survived more than one depression. It won't be easy but we'll manage.

Lo! Compact flourescent bulbs cause pollution! They let us save "five million tons of carbon" (though we don't know if that's per year or over the life of the bulb) but in exchange we get mercury!

Meanwhile the EPA has a page describing what you should do if you break a CF bulb. The instructions seem to be appropriate for dealing with a radiological spill.

And here is an NPR article about global warming. It seems to be written on the assumption that manmade global warming is proven, but what it does get right is how much we don't know about the global climate, which is approximately "everything".

After my anime marathon last night--and after going to bed around 3 AM and sleeping for 6 hours--I'm still tired. I'm glad it's only Thursday, because if it were Friday it'd mean I'd have to go to work tonight. *sigh*

I got a haircut a week ago, and I am still glad I did. My last haircut was in October; I need to get 'em more often. It's so nice not to have a shaggy mane. A hat will again hide my non-combed hair; I use a lot less shampoo, too.

Last night, Friday's precipitation forecast was at 80%. Now it's at 100%.

I'll be disappointed if we don't get any. Heh.

#972: "Obama is a mac daddy!"

OOOooooo: Boortz brought this to my attention. He's a racist!

...anyone who is critical of Obama is a racist; that's what I'm taking from the way the anti-Obama stories get played in the news.

Boortz also thoughtfully links to video of an event which offended muslims in England, so that we may be offended as well: Whee! Go to about 3:16 to see the things that offended muslims.

I have to admire women who can go out and dance wearing pasties and not much else, in weather where everyone else is wearing winter coats.

A muslim leader said he would have liked "a more multicultural" celebration. Really? People in Great Britan celebrating the opening of a shopping center by having a parade in the style of Brazil--seems plenty multi-culti to me!

Part of "multicultural" means tolerance for other cultures, you anus. As in, you also accept their culture. You live your way, they live theirs, and neither one gets bent out of shape over it. But that's not how muslims interpret "multicultural"; they interpret it the same way Democrats interpret "bipartisan": it means YOU concede to THEIR wishes.

The parade would not have been nearly as entertaining had the women been wearing burqas. "I had taken children with me", complains the thin-skinned "muslim leader". The women's "naughty bits" were concealed. If your children will be irreparably harmed by seeing cleavage, legs, and abs, they're pretty much screwed anyway. Better move to Iran or Saudi Arabia or something.

Yes, progressive Saudi Arabia, where women can now drive! ...subject to certain limits, of course.

The web's getting snarky. I just tried going to a page with a bad URL, and got forwarded to Wikipedia's page on Hypertext Transfer Protocol. I mean, how sarcastic can you get? It's like the interweb just said, "Here's a page explaining how this shit works, moron."

Damn, I got schooled again.
