#6458: Whither global warming

No, it is not, and even if it were, I wouldn't care.

"Eating meat is bad for the environment!" ...if you accept the dubious proposition that human activity is somehow "unnatural".

"People don't appreciate the greenhouse gas impact of their food choices." No, I don't care about it, particularly since the Earth is cooling, and if it cools too much we're headed for an ice age.

Morons. Smarmy-ass morons.

This, however, is actual science, and interesting. Using a jet of helium to focus extreme ultraviolet--neat.

For the second week in a row, I have watched a large truck with a robotic arm pick up the trash barrel and empty it into itself. Once those things become self-driving....
Garbage robot: What is my purpose?

Engineer: You collect trash.

Engineer: Yeah, welcome to the club, pal.
Maybe not make them self-aware.

(Dialogue shamelessly stolen from Rick and Morty.)

Ten lines a second is a 8.5" long page every six seconds, so that's decidedly high-speed.

But Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) is a freakin' idiot. Jesus' family fled to Egypt to escape the Slaughter of the Innocents, and captain dickhead is saying that if there is a border wall, Jesus would have been killed, too.

Whenever Democrats try to use religion to further their policies, it always comes across ham-handed and ridiculous, because they don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

It's not just that this is an "apples-and-oranges" comparison, though it decidedly is; Egypt in 4 BC was not an economic powerhouse compared to Israel, not like the US is compared to Mexico today. Secondly, the Egyptian government didn't have a welfare system that fleeing Israelites could take advantage of; in Egypt as in Israel, there was no safety net for the poor. Third, it was all under the dominion of Rome at the time, and one thing people were free to do under the Empire was to travel. Going from Israel to Egypt, under Roman occupation, was more like going from Texas to Oklahoma.

Fourth, there was no political party that was making political hay out of the unrestrained migration of poor Israelites into Egypt.

Gutierrez, himself hispanic, wants there to be a mass importation of hispanics, because they tend to vote Democrat whether they're legally allowed to or not. Democrats in general want "no borders" because they want to have as many "safe" seats as they can possibly manage, and they've decided that changing the electorate is the best way to do that.

Someone should remind the congressmoron that it was Jesus' government that sent Him to Pilate for execution.

Oh, dick. "RBG" means "Ruth Bader Ginsburg", AKA Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As Karl Denninger rather callously observes, it is now only a matter of time before she passes away. That's always the case with everyone but now it becomes a little more immediate in this case.

As you know the Fungus does not cheer for anyone's death (with a very, very few notable exceptions) so we wish her the best of health. Political differences are no reason to wish someone dead, and she has not done anything to earn such approbrium. (Unlike, say, Fidel Castro or Yassir Arafat, two people whose deaths elicited cheers from the Fungus. The only two, I think.)

Looks like they're malignant, which is not good news. Still, there was no other evidence of cancer besides those two nodules, so maybe she'll be okay.

She is a lefty-liberal, and you can expect the entire establishment to pull out the stops to stave off her replacement. She will probably not retire from the bench; she previously had hinted that she was going to remain in her seat until Trump was no longer President. That may or may not happen; but again, as Denninger callously observes, it seems less likely now.

And there will be a hell of a fight over Trump's nominee, whoever it may be.

Recover quickly and be well, Ms. Justice.

The denial of science continues. "Any gender can menstruate." NO.

A few ideas for this year's Christmas vignette. Expect it in the next couple of days.
