#1098: This is a first for me.

Mom just woke me up out of a sound sleep. Seems they decided to have a tornado this evening.

So what do I think to bring to the basement? Radio? Flashlight? Cell phone?

Oh no; I bring my laptop. Which doesn't even work without being plugged in.

...but with this, as long as the power lasts, I can check the weather site for detailed weather information. Thanks to that, I know that a tornado was spotted southwest of here, and Crete lies in its path, which is why they blew the sirens. And this situation will persist for another 40 minutes or so.

My cats--who usually try to sneak into the basement whenever either Mom or I come down here--don't want to be in the basement. WTF.

...hmm, they're blowing the sirens again. This is excitement I don't need.
