Last night, after watching 9 episodes of High School Girls, I put in the first disk of WKRP in Cincinnati, and watched the first 4 eps of it.
...and laughed. I had to pause playback a couple of times.
The late '70s rock having been replaced with generic "royalty-free" music has not seemed to make much of a difference, though so far one joke has failed because a song was replaced.
So far the best line is still Mr. Carlson's, from the second half of the pilot episode: "You know, Andy, I could see putting up with this nonsense if it was making me rich, but it's not, so why do it?" (I'm going to have to use that line at work sometime.) Gordon Jump (who played Mr. Carlson) always had a gift for facial expressions; you could see the gears turn in Carlson's mind. That's what made him such a natural for the character.
I hope I continue to enjoy this as I have. My only gripe so far is how playback and chapter marks are executed on the disk. If you don't want to have to manually start playback of each episode, you've got to select "play all" at the menu and then skip forward, keeping careful count of opening credits until you get to the one you want to see. There doesn't seem to be a way to start at "chapter X" and let it just go from there.

As for High School Girls I still find it entertaining. And I have only just learned that the manga is available here. Nine volumes so far. Jesus. Did I miss a memo? (Again?)
Anyway, that's about it for today. I got a respite yesterday but today I have to run a slew of errands. Again. *sigh*
