Finished another one!

Today I finished writing another novel.

This one has plagued me for decades. (I wish I could say I was exaggerating when I say "decades", but I can't. I'm speaking the literal truth.) I've tried to write this particular story some 3 or 4 times, but today, I finished it.

I'm not going to give much away here, but it completes the big story I started writing when I began the "Builders' Legacy" campaign in 1999. The BL campaign revamped my old SF universe for use with the Alternity RPG system, and it got me interested in writing stories set in that world again; and so, here we are.

There are five novels which form the core of the story. There can be (may be) others, but the basic story is all set forth in these five novels. There are one or two which could come before, and one or two other stories which fit somewhere between them all; but these five are the basic five.

The first one ("Builders' Legacy", which names the universe) hasn't been written yet. I have notes and about ten or so pages worth of text. Writing it is not strictly necessary, because the story can start quite satisfactorily with the second story, but there are several things which could be better explained if I started with BL.

There is another story set around the same time as BL which is not mandatory for the development of the universe, but which I might include if I can ever write it. Like the one I finished today, it is proving most difficult to manage, though.

The funny part of it is that the story had stagnated for the last eight months. I had gotten stuck; and then today I opened it and looked it over, and BRRT BRRT BRRT BRRRT [spellcheck][print] voyla!

[Voyla? Is she here again??]

...voila, the rough draft is done.
