#1598: Synth lead??
Dick links a video in this post of the Edgar Winter Group doing its well-known tune "Frankenstein".
I've loved this song since I first heard it, and as God is my witness I always thought the lead in that song was a guitar. Yet there's old Edgar himself, playing the lead on a keyboard hung from his neck. (That thing's gotta weigh a ton. My dear boy, this was 1973; take that, Devo!)
My only complaint about this video is that the sound and the video are 'way the hell out of sync. (At least, they were for me. Maybe it's time for a reboot....)
At 6:19 Edgar gets on his knees and starts twiddling knobs on the synthesizer. That's right: the actual synth is the big black thing behind him, sitting there like the kaaba. Know what? It's all analog, too! How cool is that?
