Think of which places the illegal aliens tend to collect: blue states and big cities, all of which are controlled by Democrats. If you count illegals, it means more people, which means more representatives in the House of Representatives. Since the number of representatives is fixed, this will give Democrats a disproportionate amount of power.
It's nothing but a naked grab for power: the Democrats lost control of the House in 1994 and they for damn sure are going to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Three Boortz links today:
This is not at all surprising. Liberals won't read conservative books before condemning them, so naturally they must fall back on what they "know". Liberals "know" that any book by a conservative must be filled with lies, evil, hatred, greed, and corruption. Quoth Boortz:
NOWHERE do you see any specific and direct reference to any error in Malkin's material. You see charges of lying, but no references to lies. References to distortions, but no examples. In the case of a book written by a minority, it is therefore perfectly all right to haul out the racism; if anyone ever hinted at calling a liberal commentator some of the names the lefties use on Michelle Malkin, he would be tarred, feathered, ridden out of town on a rail, hanged, and then shot.
Democrats can't seem to believe how much opposition there is to socializing medicine. And whether they like it or not, the American people on balance don't want Obamacare. The more the Democrats continue to thump their playbook, the more the American people will resist. So keep bringing out your union thugs, Democrats. Keep astroturfing, keep demeaning and trying to shout down legitimate protest. Go right ahead and continue to act like the totalitarian wannabes you are.
'Cause if you do, you might just lose this time.
Pelosi sez that protestors are "un-American". That's right! Being against socialism is now "un-American"!
Well, kids, I remember a time--back when I was a young 'un, not more than forty years old I was!--back when Democrats told us that "dissent is patriotic". Of course, that was before Obama became President.
Democrats sure have weird ideas about what makes America great.

AP is now a shill for Democrats. No, wait, that's not news. It's always been thus. What I meant to say was "AP makes its shilling for Democrats an official policy."
The AP announced last month it will allow its subscribers to publish free of charge work by four nonprofit groups, the Center for Public Integrity, the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University, the Center for Investigative Reporting and ProPublica. Now imagine the outcry from Democrats if AP had, for example, decided to publish "work" from the NRA.
None of these groups is even "centrist" let alone "conservative". They're all lefty-liberal groups.
My thanks to the AP for finally making clear to the American public where their loyalties lie.

Vox Day: Consumption is artificually inflated (among other things by "cash for clunkers") and "...a mere return to historical consumption patterns will be a depression-sized event."
Reading that article, I am starting to wonder just how screwed we are. Vox Day makes a compelling argument: socializing medicine is the only way our government can prevent a real Depression.
This does not mean we should socialize medicine, and Vox Day is not arguing for Obamacare.
What it does mean is that some kind of severe economic readjustment is inevitable. We are already screwed; government is desperately trying to stave off disaster and it is not going to work for long. The politicians can get a few years here, another term there; but sooner or later the whole mess is going to come crashing down, government control or no.
The economy is in this state because of government interference. More government is hardly the answer.
Allowing the economy to fail has plenty of dangers, both overt and hidden. People will suffer; and war usually follows Depression, meaning that people will suffer even more. But beyond that it means that Democrats will lose power. It will become obvious that the Democrat ways of doing things has been an abject failure, that these ways cannot work because they are utterly foreign to human nature...and ultimately it will spell the doom of the Washington way of doing things.
...okay, that is probably a bit optimistic.
