#1879: Chief Garibaldi is a conservative?

Is this why we haven't seen Jerry Doyle doing anything else since Babylon 5?

I was clicking through the blogroll and happened to notice the ad--on Michelle Malkin's page--out of the corner of my eye just after clicking away from the page but before the new page loaded: "WTF that looked like Garibaldi." Hit the back button--sure enough, that was Jerry Doyle on the cover of that book.

Wait, it says here he's a "conservative talk show host"--where?

Dang. I'm impressed. But I bet he doesn't get invited to SF cons any more.

We're going all over the place today. Let's start with Big Dick's Place, talking

"Men know when they're aroused."

Dick is very sarcastic about this headline, not that I blame him, because I'm pretty sarcastic about it, too. It tends to be, shall we say, obvious when a man is ready for you-know-what, as the article says in its first sentence: "Men who reported feeling turned on tended to also sport an erection."

..."Sport an erection"? Who talks like that? "Heh heh, I've got an ERE--"

The rest of this segment has been abandoned.

Instead of stopping potential terrorists, we're doing our best to save the world from comedians. Why Joan Rivers? Why not save the world from Will Ferrell and Rob Schneider? WTF.

The engine Ford puts in the V8 Mustangs is finally back to 5 liters of displacement. It was 4.6 for years after they switched to the new "modular" engine. The car will still cost comfortably over $30,000, of course.

Boortz on C-SPAN wanting to cover Democrat-ruled Congressional committee debates of ObamaCare.

Damn right they should be in trouble. A bunch of "Arab-american" students had custom sweatshirts made which feature an allusion to 9/11, and they got in trouble for it.

How the hell can you trademark anything that's a smiley face? I don't quite understand that. Apparently you can patent a "specific use" of a smiley face.

Well, slap my fro! I'm going to put a smiley face on something and trademark it so I can sue people for doing what I'm doing.

..."slap my fro"...?

It looks as if Obama has realized there's no way to spin this thing positive. The Knickerbomber got aboard the airplane and set off his device, and only the incompetence of the guy who made the bomb prevented a "man-caused disaster" that would have represented the first terror attack on American soil since 9/11/01.

"That's not acceptable, and I will not tolerate it." Obama is talking tough!

Oh, wait, here is the whole quote: "This was a screw up that could have been disastrous. We dodged a bullet but just barely. It was averted by brave individuals--not because the system worked--and that is not acceptable. While there will be a tendency for finger pointing, I will not tolerate it."

AP has its lips firmly fixed to Obama's posterior, of course, which is why the AP article edits Obama's comment to make it sound tough. But in fact Obama's not getting tough; he's just not going to tolerate finger-pointing.

Look, Obama's got a right to be pissed off: if the bomb had gone off, he'd see his approval ratings crater. (More than they already have.)

I really hope this is the only attack we have for another eight years--but is it the way to bet? Somehow I don't think it's entirely coincidental that this attack comes after a "regime change".

Job satisfaction is at an all-time low. know, I seem to link a lot of stories in order to say I don't find them at all surprising. I wonder why that is? Am I that bored with the universe? Why does nothing these jerks talk about surprise me? Nothing astounds me or makes me go, "Oh, cool!" any more.

You've got to love XKCD. I know just how he feels:

So I am still waiting for my confirmation e-mail from BakaBT, and most of the torrents I started yesteday are finished. 5 of 22 remain.

...and I finally realized that, in fact, it's probable that CrunchyRoll is the only place to get ChuBra. I may have to sign up over there.

During the registration process BakaBT says it should only take "a few minutes" for the confirmation e-mail to arrive. And the FAQ isn't really helpful on that point, either. Argh etc.

Well, the life of an otaku is fraught with peril.
