#1969: You say you want a revolution?

Well, y'know...I don't.

There is, however, a lot of unrest and growing anger among the populace. At that link the Anchoress quotes Dan Riehl:
This neophyte, this joke we have in the White House has absolutely no idea of the force and the rage he is about to unleash on him and his entire political party. If there are not enough responsible adults left within his party to rein in this accidental, affirmative action jerk, this self-styled, extremely flawed little man, then his party is worthless to America. It deserves to be marginalized electorally and, ultimately, utterly destroyed, before being relegated to the dung heap of history with the rest of the marxist, socialist clowns Americans have dispatched before.
And don't make the mistake of thinking Mr. Riehl is a lone voice in the wilderness. A nonscientific sampling of sources leads me to think that there are a lot of people out there who are beginning to think that the only way to stop the Democrats from taking over our society is to bring the whole thing down and start over.

Apparently the ethos of our time reminds some older folks of the 1930s--and that the history books don't mention the low-level anger that was building out among the hoi polloi.

Ms. Scalia adds, "Centers are definitely not holding. The more cynical side of me, which I am trying to keep tamped down, even wonders if some in DC are counting on the threat of violence occurring, as a means to yet another end."

I'm with her. I don't like paranoid fantasy and I'm not prepared to say the nation is a powderkeg awaiting a spark...but widespread civil unrest is the best way to "justify" martial law and clamping down hard on a free nation. And if that happens, the shit will hit the fan at mach nine.

Harvard says gas must cost $7 per gallon if we're to save the environment. Yeah, you want to see a revolution? Have government impose a $4-per-gallon tax on gasoline. Hoo boy.

If Exxon were charging $7 per gallon for gas these selfsame yahoos would be screaming bloody murder over "obscene profits", but a 100% tax on gas is perfectly okay? What a bunch of shit.
