#2058: Was it a mistake?

So the Dow-Jones dropped 1,000 points yesterday but recovered about 700 points.

Everyone's saying it was a mistake caused by a trader hitting the wrong button. Really.

"...[T]he Dow was already down more than 200 points when the mistake was made. (If it was a mistake.) So most of the "down" position yesterday--around 350--was already there before the crash took place.

The market was already down because of the situation in Greece. It's lost over 600 points in the last three days.

Keep an eye on it.

Racism! Racist policies! Sue and fire and hang the racists who are doing these racist things!

A black principal arranged a field trip for black students only to go hear a scientist give a talk.
The intent of our field trip was not to segregate or exclude students as has been reported, but rather to address the societal issues, roadblocks and challenges that our African American children will face as they pursue a successful academic education here in our community.
Dude, in order to "address the societal issues, roadblocks and challenges" you're talking about, you segregated and excluded the white students! I hate to rain on your parade but that is racism!

It's not just anti-white racism, either. It's also "the soft racism of diminished expectations". It's a black man telling black kids, "You're not going to be able to get ahead in this world without special treatment. You can't do it on your own!"

The acid test for this kind of thing is pretty simple: just reverse it. How would this black school principal have felt about a whites-only event?

I thought so.

Once again the left raises the spectre of McCarthyism. This time it's in defense of anthropogenic global warming "theory".

Why? Because it's the only defense they have against the evidence that they're faking the data, that's why.

The flight manual for the SR-71 is on-line.

Just think: that thing was developed, designed, and built using 1960s technology at best, and it remains the fastest damn jet airplane ever built. (I am excluding the X-planes because a) they were rockets, not jets, and b) they couldn't leave the ground under their own power; they had to be carried aloft.)

The SR-71 is still iridium-plated AWESOME.
