#2348: "The hour of Twilight approaches!"

Patch 4.0.1 to WoW went live. The Blizzard downloader is checking the patch now, and it's going to be doing that and patching for a while.

I don't know how many days it's been since I last played WoW, either but I figure it must've gone live on Tuesday, which is generally when they do upgrades.

No idea if the updated engine is live or what. I'll find out eventually.

I was going to go make a gnome whatever named "Danbolt" just to screw around a bit. Wow. (so to speak.)

UPDATE:

The upgrade took enough time for me to play 29 hands of "Freecell" before it was done; and now I've got another screen telling me it has to download yet another set of patches, more than 1.3 GB's worth.

*sigh*

The "in stores" release date is Dec. 7, 2010. There's a button in the launcher pane for "Upgrade to Cataclysm" so maybe current players get a head start! Heheh.

This is kind of exciting. Maybe I won't go back to bed after all....

UPDATE 2:

...so everything finishes (after forty-three games of "Freecell") and what do I get? All the realms are down while they're doing rolling restarts until 8 AM CDT at least. *sigh*

It looks as if the damn patch might have gone live today.

In any event, since they made massive changes to the skill trees, everyone gets a respec! That's a pain in the ass, but I guess it'll be all right.
