I was thinking about this on the way back from getting my bacon mofo, and I realized something.
No one in the educational establishment ever worried about bullying, ever, until kids started deciding they were gay and began to come out while still in school. Of course this led the other kids to tease/abuse/lambaste/torment/bully the gay kids; and then, suddenly, whoa! A whole lot of bullying is going on in our schools, and it must be stopped!
If Casey were openly homosexual, and his tormentors were picking on him because he was gay, the school administration would have come down on the bullies like Armageddon on steroids. After Casey body-slammed the little shit, what the administration said to the craphead would have approximated, "Well, what do you expect? You deserve that, anyway, for picking on him! You're suspended, and we might just expel you!"
But Casey's not gay--or if he is, it's not why he's being bullied--and so he's the bad guy; he's the one who broke that smaller kid's ankle and gave him a concussion. He should learn to pick on someone his own size rather than go around body-slamming smaller kids! He needs to learn the difference between teasing and bullying! He's probably a budding nazi to boot!
...the video evidence showing that the smaller kid picked the fight and threw the first punch doesn't matter, of course. Casey's response--to being socked in the gut!--was "inappropriate".
God damn it, every time I hear a story like this, it infuriates me.
