#2706; If you like wargames....

Vox Day has a link that'll help you.

VASSAL is an open-source program meant to allow the playing of boardgames on computer.

I was never really into wargames. Strategy isn't my strong suit. I have spent entire days playing Civilization or Axis and Allies with friends, but it's not an activity I eagerly seek out.

When you have a group of five guys playing Civilization, it takes more than an hour for one turn, especially if any combat is involved. I think I've played it three times, and only once was there an actual winner by the end of the evening. (We'd start at 1 PM on Saturday and play until 11 PM or so, with an hour's break for dinner.)

Ditto, by the way, for Axis and Allies; if a reasonable group can get in one full game in a day they're doing pretty well. These are not casual games that you play to occupy part of an afternoon, is all I'm saying. Not if you have anything else to do that day and like finishing.

Even though I slept well last night, I feel tired. So I get to struggle to remain awake for the next five hours, feeling miserable the entire time. Awesome.

Got to get up at 4:30 to be at work by 7, after all!
