#2791: So-I'm-painting-my-helmet-a-go-go

Yeah, it was sitting there looking particularly garish and I discovered how easy it is to pull the molding off the rim, so I took it out to the garage and began work on it.

The Bondo spot filler is elderly and I couldn't get it to behave very well. The chips in the paint will therefore remain visible; oh well.

After sanding, spot filling, sanding, and masking, I primed it using a can of Krylon primer I found. It looks like some weird kind of egg now. Tomorrow when I go grocery shopping (or whenever it is) I'll stop in at the hardware store and pick up a can of gloss black. Then I'll have a black helmet instead of a hideous 1970s horror.'ll do until I get my license, at which point I'll invest in a better helmet and keep this one as a spare.

I tried to get the Fiero insured today, but my insurance agent wasn't in. Their office was closed, so I stopped by my aunt and uncle's place for a visit. After about an hour I went back to the insurance agency and it was still closed.

I'll try again tomorrow.

I did manage to get to the bank today. I needed to take more money from the IRA in order to pay bills, and as a bonus I got the paperwork for the transfer of another IRA completed at the same time. (It's nice when your bank offers a notary service, isn't it?)

Besides that, the annual fee for the safe deposit boxes was withdrawn from the house fund account, and that left it about $112 in the hole, so I had to fix that. Argh etc.

...and the bills are paid and there's money in my checking account, and I should be okay for a while.

I've still got more of this stuff to do, and I'm going to get as much done this week as I can. Then I can start looking for a job of some kind. *sigh*

It's getting cooler outside, but it's taking its own sweet time about it. The projected low is around 64; I'll probably open the place up about the time it hits 70.

Dinner tonight was General Tao's chicken, because it's been a while since I had it, and I didn't feel like cooking. The fatigue that has plagued me since last week continues, and in fact I didn't get more than 5 hours of sleep, so I'm hoping to hit the hay at a reasonable hour tonight and, hopefully, sleep for real.

Yeah, good luck with that.
