#2844: Nothing to blog about?

The usual scan through the usual sites revealed nothing new. It might be a bit early for that. So instead you get me, talking about my incredigly stimulating life! How can you stand the excitement?

I slept like a petrified log yesterday, once I managed to get to sleep. And even after waking up and blogging and having something to eat--I don't even remember what it was, but probably it was a ham-and-cheese sandwich--I fell asleep again and slept even longer; I finally woke up around 9:30 or 10 and have been awake since.

On the plus side, I've gotten some things done. I finally got around to trimming my beard; then I shaved and took a shower. I called in the refill requests for my RXes, loaded the dishwasher and started it, and started a batch of beef stroganoff. When this post is done I'm calling about the motorcycle riding courses.

The beef in the stroganoff is a two-pound hunk of round steak which has a freshness date of April 3. I bought it in late March (I assume) and stuck it in the freezer without repackaging it; it's got some freezer burn on it. Well, cooking in onion soup mix all day ought to fix that.

I was going to use the chuck roast I bought not long ago until I saw how freezer burned the round steak was. Since I'll be cooking something that requires beef again, I bagged up the chuck roast in the bags I had been about to put the steak into, and put it in the freezer. Now that it's wrapped properly it won't get freezer burn even if it's in there for three months like the round steak was.

I also discovered that the onions were, for the most part, no longer usable. I salvaged what I could, which was about 2/3 of two onions, and stuck it into the stroganoff. I'll probably pull out most of them before I finish it this afternoon (by "finish" I mean add the McCormick's "beef stroganoff" mix, add the sour cream). The flavor they add is good; the texture, not so much.

So my next shopping list has been started: "onions". *sigh*

In WoW I ran Bitsychan through a couple instances--well, actually, I ended up running through Hellfire Citadel twice with two different groups.

The other day I tried doing Scarlet Monastery with ol' Bits but Herod killed her; after doing a bunch of other stuff and getting level 61, I thought, "Why don't I try SM again?"

I didn't even bother fighting most of the mobs in the Armory; I just went into stealth (rogue FTW) and sneaked past them all. I killed a couple mobs in the penultimate hallway before going in to fight Herod, just to make sure they wouldn't run in and complicate the issue.

Bitsychan brought Herod down. Then I sneaked out again, pausing only to pick the pockets of most of the mobs I'd left alive. Heh.

Then I hit the cathedral and finished the instance, earning the achievement for it. Whee!

...I can't think of anything else I want or need to talk about. I'm going to make that call and go to bed.

Okay, here's something.

If you try to find out about motorcycle training courses in IL by doing a search or even by going to the Secretary of State web site, you're led to this PDF.

There's a link in that PDF which will take you here, which is a clickable map that tells you who to call by region to find a training course. I click on Will County (where the bunker is located) and get a phone number for the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Call that number, and what do you get?

You're told to go to this web site to register.

Is there any reason the freakin' clickable map couldn't have a link to that site? Other than the fact that this state is run by a bunch of frickin' morons?

Argh etc.

In any case, the courses are booked solid through October, but I might be able to get into a course over at Lansing Airport next Monday if I am lucky.

On the plus side, if I can get into the course, I'll be able to get my "M" certification added to my driver's license, which will let me ride any damn motorcycle I can finagle the keys for....

So: instead of Chinese, I ordered Pizza Hut delivery. Instead of going to the store for a few sundries, I remained home. I did nothing at all today…

It's hard for me to care about it. I'm not sure why. Yes, it's probably a spy platform. LIDAR, maybe, to pinpoint the location of missile silos etc.…
