Too much damn nonsense on the Intartubzorz today.

California politicians, desperate for tax revenue, are suing to overturn Prop 13. Prop 13 was passed in 1978 and survived the usual legal challenges. It requires a supermajority in the California legislature to raise state taxes, and as we all know California's state government is so broke it can't pay attention.

Solution: raise taxes! But they can't, because the supermajority requirement makes it really, really difficult to get away with it without being voted out of office.

The article names "a team of lawyers headed by a former federal appeals court judge" but doesn't say who they are.

If this lawsuit succeeds in overturning Prop 13, California's taxes will go up...and it'll be an awesome spectacle to behold as every rich person who possibly can abandons California for greener pastures. And then California will be even worse off than it is now.

Like most calendar redesigns, this one is no improvement. Instead of a leap day every four years, you get a "mini-month" every "five or six" years.

...but every year, holidays will fall on the same days! The quarters will all be 91 days long! It's rational and scientific!

It's pre-destroyed. Michael Savage says that Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are "destroying Republican brand". Yeah.

The "Republican brand" was destroyed when the GOP refused to fight for fiscal sanity. Possibly before that.

Jobless claims rose in December. Right smack-dab in the middle of the holiday shopping season, jobless claims went up. Which is--need I say it?--bad news.

...sorely pissed off at everything right now, which is probably a good time as any to go to therapy.

Actually I am not sorely pissed off at anything but the fact that I have to go to therapy. I'd much rather stay home and sleep. This is probably a sign that it's working, though, so off I go....
