#3238: I wonder when he gets the pointy hair.

Wonderduck is a SUIT now. Yeah, he's sold out and joined the ranks of management, so now it's only a matter of time before someone compares him to Hitler.

I kid, of course. Grats, Duck!

Last night, while shopping for cat food at K-mart, I succumbed to temptation and bought a bag of M&Ms with almonds. And they're good, even better than the ones with peanuts.

Unicorn flatus is not a substitute for real technology. Using algae-based biofuels to supply "up to 17%" of our fuel needs would require "acreage equivalent to the area of South Carolina to generate that much oil".

Also, it would take 350 gallons of fresh water to make one gallon of oil, which means 25% of the irrigation capacity of the entire United States--and that's if you put your algae farm near an ocean or other large body of water. It's more if you're putting it in the middle of the country.

Yes: this plan involves a greater ecological disruption than pumping oil from the ground.

Speaking of which: Germany spent $130 billion on a solar plant because ZOMG TEH GLOBAL WARMINGZEZ!!! and it ended up doing nothing--not even lowering CO2 emissions.

Oh, not nothing--German citizens are seeing a $260 increase in their electric bills (over the course of a year) thanks to this boondoggle. Germans pay three times what we pay here in the US for electricity.

And: "By the end of the century, Germany's $130 billion solar panel subsidies will have postponed temperature increases by 23 hours."

Whee! One day out of 36,500! We're on the way to saving the planet! *blurk*

$130 billion to delay the onset of global warming (which isn't even happening) by less than one day. Yeah, this "renewable energy" stuff is really effective, isn't it?

Sex-selection abortions are illegal in Britain, yet they still happen. What a surprise that is.
If abortion is morally and legally acceptable, it is acceptable for any reason. In fact, there is no moral or legal reason why people shouldn't offer financial incentive to encourage undesirable populations to obtain abortions. The federal government could even require abortions of all minority populations for those choosing to apply for welfare payments and there would be no logical or moral reason to oppose any such policy.

The disappearance of children with Down's Syndrome is largely the result of abortion and pre-natal testing. So, we can anticipate that the more immigration that takes place into the West, the more the male-female ratios will come to resemble those in India and China.
And let me tell you, that is not anything like a good thing.

Fewer female children means fewer babies down the line. Do I have to spell out why that's bad? Imagine the situation in China right now: what do you think is going to happen if the millions of young men who can't find wives (or even girlfriends) ever realize that the government is responsible?

Hey, apparently there's a Yankee-kun to Megane-chan live-action drama. I should see if I can find it somewhere and gank it. I bet that'd be fun to watch.
