It'd be so nice if the damned FOID law in IL got overturned, but I'm not going to hold my breath. When I lived in Iowa you didn't need any permission from government to buy a long gun; you could go to Walmart and buy one and take it home the same day without showing any state ID.
IL? Pssh. If you don't have a FOID card you can't even have a muzzle-loader. The people who say that the second amendment means flintlocks etc won't even let me have that much gun; those people are dicks and they suck. (I'm glad the one gracing my fireplace is a replica; it would look so bare without that gun hanging over it.)

Profanity warning: And speaking of dicks.... Dick's Sporting Goods has rather nicely removed itself from my consideration of where to buy sporting goods with this dickery.
When I can buy guns and bullets again, I won't be going to that shithole for anything whatsoever. Cabela's is farther away but at least they're not run by a bunch of morons.

Gun control is a failure even when you use the numbers collated by pro-ban groups. Banning guns simply does not reduce violence, not in any way.

All I can say is, "Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you." Piers Morgan says he'll take his toys and go home if the US doesn't ban guns? Like he's God's gift to cable journalism and we can't possibly live without him. WTF.
Most of the country won't even notice if he leaves, and those that do won't miss him for very long.
...enjoy your return to the confiscatory taxation of Britain, Mr. Rich Television Newsreader.

Cadwallader finally hit 58th level last night, and made his way to Outland. Soon he'll hit 60th and be able to use flying mounts, and I expect he'll build his own gyrocopter. His engineering skill is already high enough (over 300) and he can mine and smelt fel iron, so all I need now is to accumulate enough fel iron ore to make the parts. Then it's just a matter of getting him to 60th and trained to fly. Whee!

It was a dark and stormy night....
Back in the mid-1980s, as I recall, some channel was having a marathon of time travel movies. At the same time, another channel was showing some other movie I wanted to see, so I set the betamax to record that. And on a third channel, they were showing Flash and the Firecat.
Now, in this movie, a couple of dune buggy enthusiasts decide to rob a bank, and it was billed as showing much off-road niftiness. But these other two movies--and I thought, "What the hell, it's a TV movie; they'll show it again!"
They never showed it again.
Having remembered all this not very long ago, I Googled "dune buggy movie bank robbery" and this movie popped up. Lo and behold, that was the title I was looking for.
...so sometime in the next couple of weeks I intend to delve into Amazon to see if I can find a copy of it for sale. I can only hope that my getting the movie, putting it into the DVD player, and pressing "play" doesn't cause the world to end.
If it does, sorry.
