#3746: Obama starts the police state off right

He's issued executive orders in the name of gun control.

Vox Day talks about Obama's "empty words".

He's eviscerated HIPAA by adding an exception for government. Previously, no one could access your medical records without your permission. Now?
Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
And furthermore, Obama attempts to change Obamacare by executive fiat:
Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
...which it most assuredly does. The black-letter law passed by Democrats and signed by Obama says that doctors may not ask patients about guns in their homes.

Boortz on the story.

Democrat uses tragedy to further his political agenda. What else is new?

Meanwhile New York emplaces draconian new limits on gun ownership including a ban on rifles which look scarier than other rifles.

Vox Day explains how violent crime has been declining since 1960 and explains that the real reason for gun bans has nothing to do with violent crime and everything to do with how easy it is to control a populace which has no weaponry.

Right on schedule, Democrats want to repeal the 22nd Amendment which limits any one person to two terms as President.

If you are not a rich and well-connected TV newsreader, you may not possess high-capacity magazines in Washington, D.C. Unlike David Gregory, this poor fellow was not well-connected, so he's being prosecuted for having two unloaded 15-round magazines in a locked container in the trunk of his car, even though he--like Gregory--had no criminal intent in possessing and transporting said ammunition magazines.

There is no "rule of law" any longer.

Monty brings back the DOOM! and it's a joy to behold.

Apparently Tide is the new currency on the streets. Then commentor BobS starts talking about strict controls on detergents for the children, of course.

Aluminum cars bend more easily, making them less safe. More people going to die to satisfy D.C.'s thirst for ever-higher fuel economy numbers.

Pie-in-the-sky from people who know nothing about robots.

You can't just buy a FANUC robot and say, "Okay, bot! Go in there and start assembling cars!" For one thing, the robot requires an end effector ("hand") which is usually job-specific, and an end effector which is ideal for painting metal is going to be suboptimal for deburring that metal prior to painting.

For another, the robot must be programmed, and that takes someone who knows how to program robots.

I suppose it's possible that some average dork could buy a robot and lease it to a big company...but why would the big company bother leasing when it can buy? And why would it lease robots piecemeal rather than going to a supplier and leasing them wholesale?

There are a lot of problems with the "cottage industry with robots" idea, too.

Now if you do happen to have robots like C3PO and R2-D2, this model makes sense, because that kind of robot can be told, "Go in there and serve drinks!" Sadly, that kind of robotic technology is still in the realm of science fantasy.

Speaking of science fantasy, now there will be an entire planet of gay people in the Star Wars online game so homosexuals don't have to feel left out.
