#3906: Anime

I don't remember the last time I sat down to watch anime.

Part of it is that El-Hazard is in the computer room. I could watch anime on the blab slab in the family room if I hooked El-Hazard up to its VGA port; it'd work fine. But how do I get anime to El-Hazard, then?

Well--obviously I run a network cable from the switch to the family room! Right?

...that requires buying wall plates and mounting the network hardware to the wall--something I'm not quite ready to do yet--as well as running cable through the attic and fishing it down into the walls. (Which I am definitely not going to do when it's routinely over 90 outside. No.)

Though I could, instead, get some kind of cabinet into which I can put the routers and modem and UPS and-and-and, but that would also require a capital expense I can't justify right now.

In fact, the only thing I have on hand for this project right now is the cable and the ends. That's it; nothing else. I could put ends on the cable and connect it only when I'm using the thing, but that's inelegant and sloppy--and I have a tendency to trip over cords, anyway.

Anyway, yesterday I--on a lark--perused BakaBT for the first time in about a decade, and came across Aku no Hana anime. I almost sprained my mouse downloading the torrent; now it's on my E: drive waiting to be viewed...along with all the other stuff I haven't finished watching yet.

Oh well.

Yesterday I decided to dust off Torgilgrimm, my very first WoW charater. He's been 51st level for approximately two years, and I figured it was time to work on him.

Now he's ready to start adventuring, a fully-functional shadow priest, a master of DPS. I took him into a random--Stratholme Service Entrance, as it happens--and the lag was terrible.

No, I don't really get why. It was awful even after I reset the entire network, so after about an hour's total play time I gave up and did something else until Mrs. Fungus got home from work.

It was better when we logged on around 1 AM, but not very good. We did quests and a random, and then went to bed.

Church had its block party today. The combination of heat and loud music did me in; I have a splitting headache. It is cooler today than it has been, but it is not cool; mostly it was a change in humidity that made today much more tolerable than yesterday. Holy crap.

But I drank plenty of fluids and stayed hydrated; this is just a "heat headache" like Dad used to get, and there's nothing I can do about it except take some ibu and try to relax.

It was the same deal as two years ago: hamburgers and hot dogs, potato chips, and cookies. Sno-cones, too, plus a dunk tank and a bouncy castle for the kids. Why complain? It was completely free, and the guy in charge of the cooking really knows his stuff so the food tasted good.

And I did have a few moments of joy while I was there.

Anyway, that's the latest. Nothing major to report, in other words.

Oh well.
